PowerScreen

Privacy Policy

Your recordings never reach us.

How PowerScreen handles your data, on your computer, in the downloads it makes, and on this website.

Effective October 13, 2026

Who we are

PowerScreen is made by Unidatum Integrated Products Limited, Venture Hub, 136 Capel Street, Dublin D01 T2C9, Ireland, the controller for the little personal data this policy describes, together with Unidatum Integrated Products LLC in the United States.

For anything about privacy, write to privacy@unidatum.eu. We have not appointed a statutory Data Protection Officer; that address handles every request.

In short

Your recordings never reach us
PowerScreen has no Unidatum server, no account and no cloud. Recording, transcription and editing run on your computer, and what you record stays there.
No tracking
The app has no analytics, crash reporting, advertising or update checks, and sends nothing about you or your work to Unidatum or to anyone else.
The downloads it makes
The first time you use speech to text (or a narration voice), PowerScreen downloads the model it needs, once. Nothing of yours goes with the request.
What we do see
When you download PowerScreen from this site, a count of the download (product, version, country, browser) and Cloudflare's bot check. That is all.

What PowerScreen keeps on your computer

Your recordings: each one is a movie file, with a small file beside it (<name>.cursor.json) holding the pointer's positions, shapes and clicks. They are saved in the project's capture folder, or beside the project once it has been saved, or otherwise in a Screen Recordings folder in PowerScreen's own folder.

Your projects (.powerscreen files), wherever you save them, with their auto-saves; transcripts and pointer tracks are stored inside the project.

Beside those, in PowerScreen's own folder (%APPDATA%\PowerScreen on Windows, ~/Library/Application Support/PowerScreen on a Mac, or a data folder next to the program for the portable build): your preferences, a recovery copy of the open project, the speech models you have downloaded, and a log. If PowerScreen ever fails, the details are written to a crash log there, and it is shown to you rather than sent anywhere.

Your own backup software may include any of these. We never receive them.

Screen, microphone and sound

The screen
PowerScreen captures the screen only between Start Recording and Stop, and only the display or window you chose. On a Mac this uses Apple's ScreenCaptureKit and needs the Screen & System Audio Recording permission, which you grant and can withdraw in System Settings.
The pointer
While recording, PowerScreen notes where the pointer is, its shape, and when its buttons are pressed, so Cursor Effects and Auto Zoom can use them. It does not record what you type.
The microphone and the computer's sound
Recorded only when you choose them in Record Screen, only while recording, and only into your recording.

Speech to text

Transcription runs on your computer. Your audio is never sent anywhere to be transcribed.

To do that, PowerScreen needs a speech model (OpenAI's Whisper, published on Hugging Face). The first time you transcribe, it asks whether to download one, and fetches it from huggingface.co: Hugging Face sees that request, including your IP address, under its own privacy policy. The file is checked against a fixed fingerprint before it is used, and is kept for next time, so this happens once per model.

If you use Text to Speech for a narration, its voice model (from huggingface.co) and pronunciation dictionary (from raw.githubusercontent.com) are downloaded the same way, once, the first time.

This website and downloads

This site is static pages served by Cloudflare. It sets no cookies and runs no analytics. Cloudflare, as our hosting provider, processes the requests it serves, including your IP address, under its own privacy policy (cloudflare.com/privacypolicy).

Before a download, the download page runs Cloudflare Turnstile, a check that you are a person and not a bot; Cloudflare sees your IP address and browser signals to decide. We then count each download: the product, version and file, whether it completed, the country Cloudflare places the request in, and your browser's user-agent string. We do not store your IP address with it. These counts are kept for three months.

If you install PowerScreen from an app store instead, the store handles the install under its own privacy policy, and gives us only the aggregate statistics stores give every developer.

Sharing, selling, advertising

We do not sell or share personal information, and we show no advertising. Apart from Cloudflare hosting and protecting the downloads, no one processes personal data for us in connection with PowerScreen.

Deleting your data

Your recordings and projects are files: delete them as you would any other. Uninstalling PowerScreen removes the program; to remove its preferences, models and logs as well, delete the folder named above.

We hold nothing of your work to delete. The download counts are not tied to you, and expire after three months.

Your rights

Wherever you live, you may ask us what personal data we hold about you, and to correct or delete it. Under the GDPR you also have the rights to restrict or object to processing and to portability; under California's CPRA, to know, delete, correct and opt out of sale or sharing (there is none to opt out of). Write to privacy@unidatum.eu: we answer within 30 days (45 under the CPRA), and may need to confirm who you are first. In practice we hold almost nothing that identifies you.

In the EU you may complain to the Irish Data Protection Commission (dataprotection.ie), our lead supervisory authority, or to the authority where you live or work; in the UK, to the Information Commissioner's Office.

Children

PowerScreen is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal data from them; the app collects none from anyone.

Changes

If PowerScreen starts handling data differently, we will update this page before the version that does so is released, and change the date below.
